There, I’ve made a confession….I am not a “green thumb” and I don’t enjoy working in the garden, whether a flower garden or vegie garden. Yet I love flowers!!!
Thankfully we have a number of fruit trees on our property and have access to many orchards and fruit sold a lot cheaper than the supermarkets. I’m also thankful when someone passes on a bag of produce from their garden, no matter what it is, because that is when I can do what I like doing. I love bottling fruit - did diced tomatoes this year. I love making relish, jam, pickles and sauce.
I made a batch of my “Zucchini Relish” today. There is the “yummy smells” of spices, vinegar and sugar lingering in the air.
I reckon the perfect solution would be to have someone who just loves gardening and have them do all the gardening side of it, then I would take over and do all the cooking and preserving for them and us.

Sounds good to me! I love to garden but the canning/freezing of the 'fruits' of my labor ... I am burnt out. Have a beautiful weeekend. TTFN ~Marydon
ReplyDeleteI would love to...if only I lived closer.
ReplyDeleteI used to do all my own canning and preserving years ago but don't do too much now. But I did make a batch of strawberry jam last week becaue our season is just about over now.
Your relish looks yummy, Susan.
I would love to have fresh fruits and veggies from my garden. I used to do canning, but haven't done it in a while.

Wouldn't that be wonderful, if it was possible, eh?
ReplyDeleteI actually watched a TV documentary, last year. A group of people in Montreal started up this program - can't remember the name.. but basically, NO MONEY is exchanged for services.
For example, someone - this gal was retired - offered her services as an accountant. If you needed her services for 1 hour, YOU had to sign up to do 1 hour's work, doing with whatever talents YOU have. I think it's called a bartering(?) system. Anyhow, I thought it was an EXCELLENT idea! *VBG*
Hope you find your gardening soul mate, Susan!
HEY! ever thought of posting a message at your local store or newspaper, eh? You just never know... *grin*
