"Giveaway" Housekeeping

Thank you so much, to so many wonderful ladies, who have entered into the giveaway. There is still time to enter, as the draw will be on Friday, September 10th.

I sincerely thank you for your thoughts and well wishes on the new position as a School Chaplain. I will slowly get to visit each of you.

It's interesting, one of the comments made by the school principal at the interview, that they required of a chaplain, is that the office is warm, inviting and welcoming - to put the kids at ease.

I've put some thought to this. I've decided I'll take two crocheted blankets I have, one made by my Nanna, who is now 96 years old, one I made when I was 14 years old. I have a framed stitchery that reads "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you." I'm thinking of having a few soft toys they can cuddle or just hold, to do something with their hands. What ideas can you think of?

Just some housekeeping. I now know how sad it feels when Anonymous comments come in and I can’t reply back. So could Cheryl Camp, Darlene N, Darlis, two different Denises, Dot (I have two close Dot friends, so can’t tell if they are playing a friendly trick on me!!!) and Stephanie – please email me your email address. I can then respond back to you.

By the way, through my giveaway I have had Pilar from cenefas de flores, visit from Spain and she is having a giveaway that you’re welcome to enter.

  1. How about adding some pillows to your space? Kids love to hug them and it can help them relax, especially when sharing some tough stuff. What a blessing you will be to the school and there are countless lives you will touch, in ways you may never know. Blessings to you in your new calling.

  2. Are you allowed to have candle warmer? Something that smells good like vanilla sugar cookies, or apples and cinnamon for example? The jar sits on a hot plate (warm plate) so there is no flame... good luck to you this year, and my prayers are with you, I hope you have lots of hugs!

  3. Sandy had one of my ideas... a nice comforting fragrance is always nice and puts people at ease and makes them feel comfortable. Also, if it's doable, a very small vase of colorful flowers on your desk each day...I find that children really do love flowers.

    Many blessings,

    Cyndi

  4. A quilt, a quilt with lots of novelty fabrics. You could hang it up or drape it. If you need novelty squares let me know. I have a huge variety and willing to share :)

  5. Some fun music would be nice in the background and some crafty item for the kids to make.

  6. Dot (pastor's wife from Oklahoma)September 7, 2010 at 8:28 AM

Hi, Susan, it's Dot. Let's see...Dot from the U.S.? Wife of a Baptist pastor with two adopted boys? We've never met but started emailing through the WOBQ Bible Study...THAT Dot. Honestly, there are so few Dots around that it never occurred to me to be that specific! You can also call me, "Dottie," if that cuts down on confusion. Anyway, I'm the one at dminshall67@yahoo.com. In fact, I've got some suggestions for your space, which I shall email shortly!
