My sister-in-law had a Christmas Morning Tea at her church end of last year, then at the beginning of this year did a special afternoon tea, as one of our nieces made the big move from home, having been accepted in University in South Australia. </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
As a result of these special times I decided to have a High Tea (really means we'd be using all the special things for morning tea) at church for Mother’s Day. So began the fun of collecting an eclectic mix of the lovely bone china in florals, roses and pastel colours. Not only the cups, saucers and plates, but tiered cake stands, sandwich plates, teapots, sugar bowls and milk jugs. It was a lot of fun looking in any second-hand shops, with my mum helping to collecting in Perth with more second-hand shops closer by. It was amazing how lovely and pretty everything looked in the "mix-and-match" collection.</div>

The following are photo’s taken on the day, including a photo with my mum, sister and daughter.<br />

This next one using the coloured beads to make a flower at each intersection. The “flowers” have pink petals around a red, blue or gold centre, then two leaves on alternate sides. These are larger covers. <br />

I mentioned and showed previously the fabric bought in Mwanza and the table runners I made. One of the table runners I had made as a gift for Tammy, the American Missionary couple we stayed with. I also made gifts for some other ladies there, that have a place in my heart, along with Tammy.</div>

I made these needlecases, embroidering their initial on the front.</div>

Also a Japanese knot bag each. I used the pattern from <a href="http://mirkwooddesigns.com/projects/japanese-knot-purse.pdf">Mirkwood Designs</a> where you can make it with or without a base. I used the one without the base. Also in the past have used this pattern from <a href="http://showyourworkings.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/knotbaginstructions2.pdf">littlegemsession</a>.</div>

He was over recently and brought a huge plastic container full mostly of magazines. I've had so much fun looking through them and picking out all sorts of small to medium projects to work on.<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
In one of them the Australian HOMEMADE Vol 25 No. 5 was this picture and pattern:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-s5TJA8SPs82VIETT7TtCQTIASxMvZMvIs5Xs3kngE3W6VSsgXWR_FvNx-1_4OibkzZMmllFurLO5Xt1xDHX00njWt_ihMm_zYYrcWHQRmUfZlLYohZs1mwhgARIzwJWDZ5L8LMO6mHJN/s1600/Aprons.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" psa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-s5TJA8SPs82VIETT7TtCQTIASxMvZMvIs5Xs3kngE3W6VSsgXWR_FvNx-1_4OibkzZMmllFurLO5Xt1xDHX00njWt_ihMm_zYYrcWHQRmUfZlLYohZs1mwhgARIzwJWDZ5L8LMO6mHJN/s320/Aprons.1.jpg" width="224" /></a></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
A lovely apron. I've wanted to make one for a few years now.</div>
<br />
So I've been busy sewing......<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrVPQpAjMTntGCgi4HG4dh0vMGF-K_klBGaP3i24Mf2VPG-SP5oIAi6Y0WzpO9O9hfQpP515YRcENHUA9uSrkhPbEvOwqHf0LdOzJGnDnPrzD_3ugonJWNBu2cK0MWT_kPEu6qJ1FDzBqi/s1600/Aprons.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" psa="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrVPQpAjMTntGCgi4HG4dh0vMGF-K_klBGaP3i24Mf2VPG-SP5oIAi6Y0WzpO9O9hfQpP515YRcENHUA9uSrkhPbEvOwqHf0LdOzJGnDnPrzD_3ugonJWNBu2cK0MWT_kPEu6qJ1FDzBqi/s320/Aprons.2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
And now have these two pretty aprons.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I would love to find an old vintage apron pattern, one that isn't a strap around the neck but a nicer fit and finish at the back. I saw Lucille Ball wearing a gorgeous one on "I Love Lucy" fabulous old black and white re-runs of comedy you can't beat.Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-8647049004791574762013-03-01T15:03:00.001+08:002013-03-01T15:05:47.480+08:00Mwanza fabric and other projectsWhile in Mwanza, Tanzania in January, I was able to buy a few pieces of fabric. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I decided to make a couple of table runners, using these fabrics plus bought a couple of "plainer" fabrics back here. The colours remind me of our time in the Serengeti National Park. We where there when it was so lush and green, then the colours of the rocks, soil, river and animals - all distinctly imbedded in my memory.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
</div>
<br />
The centre of the table runners were "fussy cut" from the centre fabric in the first photo. The fabric strip between the Mwanza fabrics isn't as golden as the photo makes it look. It's a lovely earthy, slightly gold brown.<br />
<br />

A number of ladies have joined in a SAL with <a href="http://chookyblue.blogspot.com.au/">Chookyblue</a> here on this blog:- <a href="http://www.stitch-a-long.blogspot.com.au/">Stitch-A-Long</a>. They are making smaller projects from a couple of books - "Tis The Season" and "Some Kind Of Wonderful". The project for January was a thread catcher. I've had a nice shape plastic container, as seen here, for a long time as my thread catcher and for small fabric scraps. </div>

<br />
Firstly, our state premier, Colin Barnett, over 18months ago at my first school. He is very supportive of the role chaplains play within the school community, and spoke at the 40th anniversary of chaplaincy and CRE in schools within WA, last year.<br />

I don't envy any politicians, the pressure on their time and the tight-rope they must walk as there is always somebody that isn't happy about any decision that is made.<br />

I got to experience an elephant ride at Mysore Palace in India in July 2012. (Sorry about the quality of the photo, it was taken on a friends mobile phone, as cameras were not allowed in at Mysore Palace). It's me in the pink, an Vinolia Lincoln next to me, the pastor's wife that Justine and I stayed with while Jim was away preaching in different places. </div>

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
My impressions? I'd have a camel ride any day, a more elegant gait then the elephant, and to think elephant rides were the ride of the "kings" - sultanas in India's history.</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I count it a privilege to do the travelling I have done with my wonderful husband, and to see the amazing places and people, God in His master plan, created.</div>

Visit her blog and look down the right hand side to see the patterns are still available.<br />
<br />
<br />
I stitched the embroideries and about that time we had a small group swap in our local patchwork group. I put my stitcheries into the bag and asked if they would add pieced blocks and fabric around the stitcheries. When we swapped the bag each month we met at a local café and usually my daughter was with me. As a result she got to know the ladies and therefore the story of the quilt of how it was added and sewn too. She really liked the quilt, so I decided I would give it to her. <br />

<br />
However, as is often the case with a UFO, it sat in the cupboard until December last year when I got it out to sandwich it and quilt, yes that’s all that needed doing!!! I gave it to her for her birthday which is two days after Christmas. It is now proudly hanging on her wall.<br />
<br />
Raggedy Ann means something to my daughther. When we went to pick her up in the Philippines the gifts we took her not only included a soft toy kangaroo, but pencils, paper and a Raggedy Ann colouring-in book and other itens. She remembers that very distinctly that colouring-in book and the pictures in the book.<br />
<br />
It is interesting to read up the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raggedy_Ann">story behind Ann and Andy</a>. <br />

<br /></div>
A number of blogs I keep up with have had "time off" for a while. Life's happenings happen...and before you know it, time has flown.<br />
<br />
Since I last posted we had two months away travelling across the world - USA, London, Paris, Malta, Cyprus, Egypt, Israel, Petra and the Philippines. Christmas 2011 was spent in the US and we celebrated our daughter's 13th birthday at Disney World, Florida. <br />
<br />
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiRQGolhORCzc3gMdWY-xJE1i2KlcmlDt68QrPvHnIh1XM_rs3KD_PXawdtD-0L0_qmp3_YBEKQq5VjxT76l8OwxeujscAUrQPPFHd5e2UaJX2zoUq-OijiOMjlTp7ddFSFv-oKGaD8Zlf/s1600/Family.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="278" oea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiRQGolhORCzc3gMdWY-xJE1i2KlcmlDt68QrPvHnIh1XM_rs3KD_PXawdtD-0L0_qmp3_YBEKQq5VjxT76l8OwxeujscAUrQPPFHd5e2UaJX2zoUq-OijiOMjlTp7ddFSFv-oKGaD8Zlf/s320/Family.4.jpg" width="320" /></a>July 2012 spent two weeks in India. While my husband was preaching and teaching at Pastors and Deacons meetings and in villages, my daughter and I experienced true village life in Kotagiri. Walked the streets with hundreds of people, animals and vehicles!!! Spent time in the home of many and prayed with and for many, including police on duty at a tourist destination.</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
October 2012 my husband and son went to Fiji for two weeks. Us "girls" stayed home this time. Upshot of the Fiji trip is that our son has met a lovely Christian girl, and they have kept in contact since.<br />
<br />
January 2013 already had three weeks in Mwanza, Tanzania. Again ministry amongst the pastors, deacons, leaders and their wives, plus children's ministry. All very rewarding and a great blessing. We also had two days in the Serengeti National Park, experiencing all the wonderful native African animals up close. Including many lions and cubs, elephants walking around the vehicle, giraffes, buffalo, leopard and her cub in a tree and much more.<br />
<br />
In amongst it all, I worked full-time as a chaplain in three schools. Then the normal home duties and local church ministry. I didn't get a lot of crafting done, which I really felt, as it is definitely my way of relaxing and having quiet time to think, plan and be in a state of contentment.<br />
<br />
So this year? I have finished working as chaplain in the first school I started at, which will save me a lot of travel time. I'll be working three days a week in my own town instead. Hopefully from this I can get some crafting time again. I need to get back into my "Dear Jane" quilt and a few other things like that.Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-55281276798812792722011-09-12T14:09:00.009+08:002011-09-12T14:18:17.191+08:00Feeding lambs<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2XGQGlaxMAvpWICj_mxzAJks0p1boo52vLCbbgBbD4dmEwFdlycI1GmNe9NZ2nWA4O9Whp1_GLQWn5z41L6_sZYLJa9xdqiGAWDEs0UwOqaLR9L8CLwiSc-LqBc-fvESN_Ki06u4inv3m/s1600/Sept+2011+Lamb.4.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651353412000647058" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2XGQGlaxMAvpWICj_mxzAJks0p1boo52vLCbbgBbD4dmEwFdlycI1GmNe9NZ2nWA4O9Whp1_GLQWn5z41L6_sZYLJa9xdqiGAWDEs0UwOqaLR9L8CLwiSc-LqBc-fvESN_Ki06u4inv3m/s320/Sept+2011+Lamb.4.jpg" /></a>I was asked about our lambs, so I've posted a couple of photo's.<br /><br />I think we need to change the song "Mary had a little lamb....." to "Justine had a little lamb...." and "Everywhere that Justine went...the lamb was sure to go"!!!<br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNpppjZ7Yj6OxQFoiEXvT5Bt1_duU7YnBIi_8RNo43151tebUYQjHyhHd3LB2mvgFUrExu7prdPeg2Ik5BdZyy7agXW7j8zUhLkaIcb1QC6rM_pSnrJWfKWgO_TOKcy26yY4y-aQGko5V2/s1600/Sept+2011+Lamb.2.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 206px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651352345541152722" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNpppjZ7Yj6OxQFoiEXvT5Bt1_duU7YnBIi_8RNo43151tebUYQjHyhHd3LB2mvgFUrExu7prdPeg2Ik5BdZyy7agXW7j8zUhLkaIcb1QC6rM_pSnrJWfKWgO_TOKcy26yY4y-aQGko5V2/s320/Sept+2011+Lamb.2.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1wVPPE_EGhSszUgEOQC8TObI5uCpWGtjztr3amYVZX6NURxaInpnZxHhSgy_TSciOQWKo3U7MIe4hGNZlqt_uz753im8HRdILtGD4JUawPBpLxvUjIsEri1_sFNS78mEZFi3RhERpAl5f/s1600/Sept+2011+Lamb.1.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 302px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651352574684854450" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1wVPPE_EGhSszUgEOQC8TObI5uCpWGtjztr3amYVZX6NURxaInpnZxHhSgy_TSciOQWKo3U7MIe4hGNZlqt_uz753im8HRdILtGD4JUawPBpLxvUjIsEri1_sFNS78mEZFi3RhERpAl5f/s320/Sept+2011+Lamb.1.jpg" /></a>Another lamb was rejected overnight, so we're now bottle feeding a second lamb.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div>Even a "lamb kiss"!!!<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7IyBxQgLPcpulO3by2WNCepUKTN1XQ5Yy9971EtTQFC0iOLuxsWAV86-XskDepTq3gSXtBpNHSJer_12QMDX9qm-QpQylTtLDcEWPc3DccgoQMqf4N4sNgqZGOJ3P9jBoCUAs1UoW2Gc3/s1600/Sept+2011+Lamb.3.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 302px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5651352940094962898" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7IyBxQgLPcpulO3by2WNCepUKTN1XQ5Yy9971EtTQFC0iOLuxsWAV86-XskDepTq3gSXtBpNHSJer_12QMDX9qm-QpQylTtLDcEWPc3DccgoQMqf4N4sNgqZGOJ3P9jBoCUAs1UoW2Gc3/s320/Sept+2011+Lamb.3.jpg" /></a></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div>Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-57228715699264202382011-09-03T10:07:00.005+08:002011-09-03T10:22:09.115+08:00It's been a while!!Time, that is "days and months" have disappeared rather rapidly. Even my daughter is worried at the pace of time.
<br />
<br />Family changes have been happening this year - Our son has moved out into his own unit. This was a big thing and hard for me as his time with us seemed so short, considering his first 6 years were in an orphanage. During the past school holidays hubby and son were driving together, to go walking on Bluff Knoll in the Stirling Ranges, and had a car accident on the way. The car was a write-off, but they walked away no injuries, but a big lesson for our son, yes, he was driving, still on his "L's".
<br />
<br />
<br />For us the ornamtental cherry blossom is once again covering the trees; the ewes are having lambs; and we're bottle feeding one lamb, rejected by it's mother; we're starting to get warmer days, which I love as you feel the warmth right into your bones.
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />My crafting days have been limited with my part-time chaplaincy work. So I've not been as productive as I once was. However, I participated in a CQ Asian Challenge on the yahoo gruop CQ4Newbies. I was excited to tie for first place with this block.

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br /><a href="http://blocktalkwithgerry.blogspot.com/">Gerry on "Block Talk"</a> has done a very helpful critique on my block, and so I will be working on it to make some changes.
<br />
<br />I can't guarantee when I'll post again. But I can tell you we will be away on holidays at the end of the year, visiting Bali, Paris, America, London, Malta, Cyprus, Egpyt, Israel and the Philippines. This trip is to take our daughter back to her birth country for a visit.

Which we're all thankful for.<br /><br />However, Queensland is really struggling. Not only with flooding since December, with nearly 2/3 of the state under water, about 3 times the size of Texas, which did go into New South Wales, then Victoria. Then they were hit with two cyclones. With the worst one last night, a category 5 cyclone, <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/lateline/content/2011/s3129536.htm">Yasi.</a><br /><br />It's ladies like <a href="http://elefantz.blogspot.com/">Jenny of ELEFANTZ</a> I'm concerned for.<br /><br />With all the flooding both in north WA, in the eastern states and the cyclones, the food bowl of Australia is severely descimated.Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-86979988882771116942011-01-28T16:18:00.004+08:002011-01-28T16:23:51.777+08:00Rare Cyclone Alert for SW AustraliaThe last time a cyclone managed to get further down the coast was Cyclone Alby in the 1970's.<br /><br />It looks like we might be in for a bit of a rough ride over the weekend if the cyclone travels according to the Bureau of Meteorology’s forecast maps.<br />You can view it at <a href="http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW60281.shtml">http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDW60281.shtml</a><br /><br />So to be on alert, from Jurien Bay to Albany, with possible effects felt on Sunday, is indeed, amazing. <br /><br />Also there are two others off the coast of Queensland, so they are wtching and waiting also.Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-87395801969377903332011-01-25T22:16:00.009+08:002011-01-25T22:43:59.516+08:00First 2011 projectI have completed my first project for 2011. Then a dear friend posted a comment, hoping I was okay, so I knew I just had to sit down and get it done!!<br /><br /><span style="color:#003333;"><em>So where do I start?<br /></em></span>My <strong>new job</strong> – as a school chaplain, started off and went very well. By the end of the term I knew over half the students by name and started to place sibling groups together. Coming into my office for “teddy hugs” has been a huge hit.<br /><br />I also made some <strong>cushions</strong> for the office, using a very colourful cardigan someone had knitted, which I bought at a second-hand shop. It wasn’t complete – just the back and two front side panels, which had been joined, but no sleeves or anything else. I unpicked it, and made cushions with them. The photo’s show the outcome. <div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLu0GOmw9deczs4Riz7ClNCCuTCTZWdtXexCpvuInCYL4_RmME_R7o88QBz3RU2sb87Ok_Umnrl_TAgjZDNnPbB-HsympE9Czhj4FCRFT8H7n9nq5o350VjwcVUnnAkiVaphnhelN49bmP/s1600/Recycled+knitted+cardigan+1.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556711362871727362" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLu0GOmw9deczs4Riz7ClNCCuTCTZWdtXexCpvuInCYL4_RmME_R7o88QBz3RU2sb87Ok_Umnrl_TAgjZDNnPbB-HsympE9Czhj4FCRFT8H7n9nq5o350VjwcVUnnAkiVaphnhelN49bmP/s320/Recycled+knitted+cardigan+1.jpg" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjstgtPZlFQjd_ERP256NBUIm032Gzh-yxlW3Fsze5U21B6oFR-JKJM0glOCWyDfb720HoCMacMBHD_Cv8OdQgg21FwDv3ZEhQlXZ4zCHd54NFynPlBwPeYiyrPjCwb2ieQ7znAw9nGiEGQ/s1600/Recycled+knitted+cardigan+2.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556711048547200242" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjstgtPZlFQjd_ERP256NBUIm032Gzh-yxlW3Fsze5U21B6oFR-JKJM0glOCWyDfb720HoCMacMBHD_Cv8OdQgg21FwDv3ZEhQlXZ4zCHd54NFynPlBwPeYiyrPjCwb2ieQ7znAw9nGiEGQ/s320/Recycled+knitted+cardigan+2.jpg" /></a><br /></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>Just before I started the job I managed to get some <strong>DJ blocks</strong> made for someone I’ve been swapping with for a while. Plus I was feeling quite tied.<br /><br />On top of all that, my sister-in-law was getting married and asked my daughter to be a flower-girl, along with her cousins. So making a <strong>flower-girls dress</strong> became priority one, in what little time I had. I really enjoyed making this dress, it's been a few years since I last did some dress making, which was also for a wedding. Back in my teens I used to make most of my clothes.<br /><div></div><br /><div>From this:-</div><br /><div></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkW_ttwAhbVvd1xS-ue10E6LKmQDluUH3FJsL14MpM6b_el361kt_KmkI45tZBPRG6il0h4U45h7OvL4otVy2rWequqxh2PUnqRWL5TOGdTvTL5nIGFyYQT-astFemYA-DpOobRS2A4KPE/s1600/FlowerGirl+Dress.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556709595859203090" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkW_ttwAhbVvd1xS-ue10E6LKmQDluUH3FJsL14MpM6b_el361kt_KmkI45tZBPRG6il0h4U45h7OvL4otVy2rWequqxh2PUnqRWL5TOGdTvTL5nIGFyYQT-astFemYA-DpOobRS2A4KPE/s320/FlowerGirl+Dress.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>To this:- </div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj603b3OCOhggvgBvIWVBkIGUQpojyiLL_64AFoswpwHLcndtafRMk3F3X1PppdQEfMVIVrKmY1bqn28_dpOKRU7T9u4MPj5XSiqqUUWvClgT0oUTFT7LHL9eqqnz6oJiZJJo_IdPGeZ3eW/s1600/FlowerGirl+3.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556709005761650306" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj603b3OCOhggvgBvIWVBkIGUQpojyiLL_64AFoswpwHLcndtafRMk3F3X1PppdQEfMVIVrKmY1bqn28_dpOKRU7T9u4MPj5XSiqqUUWvClgT0oUTFT7LHL9eqqnz6oJiZJJo_IdPGeZ3eW/s320/FlowerGirl+3.jpg" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4Rz9cIBcfE9R7CNTIIdyne6qEKUYI9-jiftZ-PeEtjvre1lT_wcKH0D7pb3kBA0z775Uhy0l64izBCJKqKtv0_N_QRzs5VCC76lCT9qSuULdgIgOo3zCylNRTz1Ubq21YnNJFLXI4bx5k/s1600/FlowerGirls+2.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5556710053521013890" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4Rz9cIBcfE9R7CNTIIdyne6qEKUYI9-jiftZ-PeEtjvre1lT_wcKH0D7pb3kBA0z775Uhy0l64izBCJKqKtv0_N_QRzs5VCC76lCT9qSuULdgIgOo3zCylNRTz1Ubq21YnNJFLXI4bx5k/s320/FlowerGirls+2.jpg" /></a><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div><div>Along came <strong>Christmas</strong>, with family coming here. I was asked if I’d like to submit a “Readers Letter” sharing why I made the mug pouches, any changes I made and so forth, after using the pattern from their magazine. That was a real surprise!!!<br /><br /><br /><em><span style="color:#660000;">Finally</span></em>, the winner is…………<br /><br /><br />But wait there’s more………….<br /><br /><br />I decided, because I can, that I would make an extra couple of mug pouches. I knew it would be sad, when so may entered the giveaway, that I couldn’t make one for everyone.<br /><br />So I decided I would choose -<br /><br />Number 1 – Jeannette , because number 'ones' don’t come up often in random number generator’s, also because Jeannette has just started a new position in a school situation, in New Zealand. A similar story to me!!<br /><br />Here are the next two winners, by a random number generator:<br /><br />Number 92, which is Darlis, one of my anonymous entries. So Darlis, I need you to email me your email address. If I don’t hear from Darlis, by Monday Sept 13th, I’ll draw another number.<br /><br />And<br /><br />Number 18 which is Marianne. I shall be emailing you shortly.<br /><br />I had 154 entries into my excel document, accounting for those that in one comment were a follower, or blogged etc. Thank you all so much for entering and for the increase in followers.</div></div></div></div></div>Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-25603402163491865202010-09-09T23:10:00.008+08:002010-09-09T23:58:53.314+08:00“Thank You, Sarah Tobias”<a href="http://www.blackbird-design.com/">Blackbird Designs</a> released a x-stitch book in 2008, titled “Thank you, Sarah Tobias”.<br /><div></div><br /><div>I found out about it from <a href="http://thepaintedquilt.blogspot.com/">Kaaren</a>, as she told me of the gorgeous needle case in it. There is still time to enter, as the draw will be on Friday, September 10th.<br /><br />I sincerely thank you for your thoughts and well wishes on the new position as a School Chaplain. I will slowly get to visit each of you.<br /><br />It's interesting, one of the comments made by the school principal at the interview, that they required of a chaplain, is that the office is warm, inviting and welcoming - to put the kids at ease. <br /><br />I've put some thought to this. I've decided I'll take two crocheted blankets I have, one made by my Nanna, who is now 96 years old, one I made when I was 14 years old. I have a framed stitchery that reads "If friends were flowers, I'd pick you." I'm thinking of having a few soft toys they can cuddle or just hold, to do something with their hands. What ideas can you think of?<br /><br /><div align="center">***************<br /><br /><em>Just some housekeeping</em>. I now know how sad it feels when <strong>Anonymous</strong> comments come in and I can’t reply back. I went through the stages of the Vocational Assessment, the interview process which involved two stages. The second stage held yesterday, with a panel of four at the actual school. In the afternoon I had a phone call, offering me the position as the school chaplain.<br /><br />Yes, I was successful and thank the Lord for it all. It was a situation that arose completely “out of the blue.” Honestly, not a position I’d ever thought of doing, let alone applying for. So through the whole process I was praying about it and leaving it in the Lord’s hands, as to what He’d have me do. If it’s what He wanted then it would happen. I commence in term 4 - October.<br /><br />What does a school chaplain do?<br /><br />Chaplains provide general personal pastoral care and spiritual advice, comfort and support to all students and staff, regardless of their religious denomination, irrespective of their religious beliefs.<br /><br />However, I’ve yet to learn and walk the path of this position to see and understand fully what it will involve.<br /><br />I’m a little nervous as it’s something very new. But again with the Lord’s guidance and help, I know things will unfold and I’ll find my place and abilities within this position.</p><p> </p><p><span style="color:#cc0000;">Edit Note: I did this post about an hour ago....walked away and did a few things. Then had an "ah huh" moment!! I know what else I can use some of the denim for!!! I need to buy a good diary now - a day a page with time break-up's in it - so I can make a diary cover for it!!! Like Jenny did to her "brown expenses" book!!</span></p><p> </p>Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-15838547461573978502010-08-31T07:42:00.010+08:002010-08-31T08:05:18.282+08:00Icecream Container . . and . . Mug Pouch?!I mentioned two posts ago about the Re-Invention challenge by Jenny of ELEFANTZ. I can now show you what I did with the icecream container.<br /><br />A few years back I saw the pattern for a mug pouch, by Christine Book, in the Australian HOMESPUN magazine No. 38 (Vol. 7 No.4). I wanted to make one then, but never did. Recently our patchwork group decided, as it’s growing “too big”!!! and to make it easier on the hostess, where we meet once a month, it was suggested to bring our own mug along. I knew exactly what I wanted to make, to take along my mug with.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0j_85Qwtjk_KybeXDa_Ep23X8y93C78goJItyiUtUxl9bdqKxbv4XDSRkXpR2W489FvkQN_6z1f5A_NwyIZEfn3dTmUfNRd_nRTXXj4e390ZooZhJAzJm1VvguXrx3rK9NTG0ya_2zek7/s1600/Mug+Pouch+Ks+1.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511353001864909218" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0j_85Qwtjk_KybeXDa_Ep23X8y93C78goJItyiUtUxl9bdqKxbv4XDSRkXpR2W489FvkQN_6z1f5A_NwyIZEfn3dTmUfNRd_nRTXXj4e390ZooZhJAzJm1VvguXrx3rK9NTG0ya_2zek7/s320/Mug+Pouch+Ks+1.jpg" /></a>I also made a couple of others for friends in the group also. So I’m using the last one I made, as the model for the process of making it and how the icecream container came in useful. I tried something new – colouring in with pencils the stitchery, painting over it with Textile Medium and iron setting it.<br /><br />1. The pouch is made in two pieces, like mini quilts. With some embroidered pockets. One goes on the back for a teaspoon, and the teabags plus sugar.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipPoEtXNMUc1A4TXgIZxL-AR_IZEiYZB7w79hyphenhyphencsguJcBWslPGXCHqQdcaAOMCtb2V0hAg9MNzKFbaX14Gus06i8aozY_hLXUAvf3b1rRz-uanRQUSuQSbBB_z6uqfWfQnDbzpBg41ZCsN/s1600/Mug+Pouch+Ks+2.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511357696554952434" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipPoEtXNMUc1A4TXgIZxL-AR_IZEiYZB7w79hyphenhyphencsguJcBWslPGXCHqQdcaAOMCtb2V0hAg9MNzKFbaX14Gus06i8aozY_hLXUAvf3b1rRz-uanRQUSuQSbBB_z6uqfWfQnDbzpBg41ZCsN/s320/Mug+Pouch+Ks+2.jpg" /></a><br /><div><div><div>2. It’s folded in a certain way, which makes sense soon…!!! <br /><br /><br /></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div>3. Embroidery completed, which I did as Crazy Quilting, as my friend loves CQ! Also a piece of icecream container. What’s if for? It will sit in the bottom of <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjDGvw8ai4AdcrQLY-sE4lbV6_F_THsXwczTXwoKQmrePqjFYyJbNXhPEGdYibT50zpMqhUzXvjYRMn4_DISF4RGqqLMAq2qWQUBQBy1Lvf_DqsSHuMaUOfyaTZ52XbsCCu_LcpS5nCo65/s1600/Mug+Pouch+Ks+3.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511353765295780690" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjDGvw8ai4AdcrQLY-sE4lbV6_F_THsXwczTXwoKQmrePqjFYyJbNXhPEGdYibT50zpMqhUzXvjYRMn4_DISF4RGqqLMAq2qWQUBQBy1Lvf_DqsSHuMaUOfyaTZ52XbsCCu_LcpS5nCo65/s320/Mug+Pouch+Ks+3.jpg" /></a>the pouch to hold the base out. I used it because I didn’t have any template plastic like the instructions suggested.<br /></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvReSruzCFxTTb5kPbry_p0iIeVvsgFdKxb9uQicfNEZrhzQT665TJ4g4kpKBJLtKtioQhO9Bx1vgWZkoI9AMvQJxwQGpMdv0EXdDOPFKDus2k4NIWWEZMsdrwcTIbr99-_L_24YtGC-Q2/s1600/Mug+Pouch+Ks+4.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5511354168597001730" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvReSruzCFxTTb5kPbry_p0iIeVvsgFdKxb9uQicfNEZrhzQT665TJ4g4kpKBJLtKtioQhO9Bx1vgWZkoI9AMvQJxwQGpMdv0EXdDOPFKDus2k4NIWWEZMsdrwcTIbr99-_L_24YtGC-Q2/s320/Mug+Pouch+Ks+4.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><div>4. The pockets have been sewn on the front and the back, and now the two pieces are hand sewn together, to form the pouch. </div><br /><br /><br /><div>5. One of Gerry's "Rise Above it All" pincushions.... This one is blue velvet and lavishly embellished with a vintage brooch and beads, jewels and trims....... plus a tiny locket... It is 8" tall with a weighted silver base. It will never get lost in your stash.</div><br /><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><br />PRIZE #2..... Keeping with the blue theme, a trio of bluebirds hand-painted by Gerry... Since these are antique mother-of-pearl buttons they are especially luminous and reflect every light source in the room..... thus are very difficult to photograph.. They are only 1" in diameter and have a metal shank in back... Although difficult to tell in the photo they are edged with gold...<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9NU9a0mfRYVop_uxHRBXqsZugkY2gDnYEHgmJKjefrb7xX3PG2qMx_99DmyR7xlopNA6Bu_FfwoEOHuYb5oCWYz26zInVsb_0MGG-GLBPQ5QQXzV-jvirRQi6YoW9L2hB_0cDImB1rLDV/s1600/prize2.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 148px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510408078636463650" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9NU9a0mfRYVop_uxHRBXqsZugkY2gDnYEHgmJKjefrb7xX3PG2qMx_99DmyR7xlopNA6Bu_FfwoEOHuYb5oCWYz26zInVsb_0MGG-GLBPQ5QQXzV-jvirRQi6YoW9L2hB_0cDImB1rLDV/s320/prize2.jpg" /></a></div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>Stunningly beautiful and I would love to win, sadly my name never gets a drawn in giveaways. I've continued to re-use a couple of denim jeans (which was Jenny's challenge a couple of months ago).....but I've also re-purposed an icecream container!!!<br /><br /><div><div><div><div>Firstly here is what is left of one pair of jeans!!!</div><br /><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509537109116105954" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhb_TZpVZetN6eSnwfLlq1WN6GmEAi4CoXIAm5QolzLKrMlmEGPpf2uhDUQshJ-NW_r8xU7jrkfWvrCXqweG3l6jgern3-2aqeUYwCq96v3ssqT0FlCC6bQ1BLgTHidrxMe5OXfIm710pU5/s320/Recycled+Jeans+7.jpg" /><br /><br /><div>In the previous post I've shown the bag I made from these jeans. I've since made a "remote control" pouch/pocket for my hubby as well!! I unpicked different seams to end up with workable pieces. For the control pouch, I retained both pockets intact, and added extra denim between each pocket to be the part that hung over the arm rest.</div><br /><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509536857878918210" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHxtrJN-497Wkm25OT2tmcgAmJyk6O79TyenQlmF7b9xBEa00fFZVjbniNwoxgNr2uP-tpxzeobGU5VUU3VNgouqZWO7AB6AO_7RC6vPGZrQMR7XHq9I-HjA5P9WmkDD3F26wikR2j_YTC/s320/Recycled+Jeans+6.jpg" /><br /><div>Secondly, here is what is left of the re-purposed icecream container!!!</div><br /><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5509535937048479586" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiGOVhtLvw6UJMXzJeRK8nFeAVQB0PAmNcN_jjpK_-OvwUB9h4dGt_x8VmyQ9Iirc18b22KwI7j3UtJVwGqiOSFoSs5AtFI_myFusVKzM2-h1QrEM958WyBEJ7Fy7MTkeeOu5wFwFDMHWeq/s320/Recycled+Icecream+container.jpg" /><br /><div>I've made a "mug pouch" for myself and also for a couple of friends, which I'll blog about next time. However, it required some templastic, cut out to fit the bottom of the pouch, to hold the shape. These jeans had top stitching already done in medium brown thread, so I continued that theme, top stitching where I could. I had some old plain brown fabric that matched well, to use as the lining and binding. I finished off by top stitching the brown binding in dark blue thread.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ne0ENnmaPSH50gOXIJepZqbo-j4XfyirYbPa83VKcnPgE_cCVEHWYFV7PMrz3dvCC3Cez2MMhTtWsJh46nJ9itPyLxOmasMBXzT1p7JRiV6OZezHbzQc0Xb6ZL_HST3nGD5R5VJlwEuU/s1600/Recycled+Jeans+cover+1.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 200px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504529642349994962" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4ne0ENnmaPSH50gOXIJepZqbo-j4XfyirYbPa83VKcnPgE_cCVEHWYFV7PMrz3dvCC3Cez2MMhTtWsJh46nJ9itPyLxOmasMBXzT1p7JRiV6OZezHbzQc0Xb6ZL_HST3nGD5R5VJlwEuU/s200/Recycled+Jeans+cover+1.jpg" /></a> <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwJ2HAkzvprgqKS0MdgnbsFk0zyumZNbcdF4qQ2a9mqv8Gon5L5rk8iuV9yDkPwd7wjrHcQoDzqAAw4PC3NKdcsxtufTZkbSJxk96zIPQKrBDEZCW-MSq0I8-rugB6gngWRzkTY6cDQuVl/s1600/Recycled+Jeans+cover+2.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 200px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 150px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504530061258742450" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwJ2HAkzvprgqKS0MdgnbsFk0zyumZNbcdF4qQ2a9mqv8Gon5L5rk8iuV9yDkPwd7wjrHcQoDzqAAw4PC3NKdcsxtufTZkbSJxk96zIPQKrBDEZCW-MSq0I8-rugB6gngWRzkTY6cDQuVl/s200/Recycled+Jeans+cover+2.jpg" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><div><br /><br /><div><br /><div></div><div></div><div></div><div></div><div> </div><div>A great find in a second-hand shop some weeks back were jeans going at a $1 each. I picked out a pair where the denim was still a very nice dark colour. It also had a light blue cording set into the side seams. I made another bag this time working out the pattern as I went, with knowledge gained from the Make-A-Bag-Sew-Along.<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504533417800062690" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgbMkzQR5ebuW1W9F5nuckV4Ha1RNgREBs2m-dq7eT4WHjYC1Bu0BaO-X68eLG8Ne89X872pEsCptsPd69Clww_TRG04U9YN2nLEZNo74QKHNDvOr7zsihQm3_oUxcxgt2TUoan3Gd8Ikue/s320/Recycled+Jeans+1.jpg" /><br />I didn’t want to undo the seams where the blue cording was so that was left complete and I then sewed in a centre panel of fabric. This fabric is a Windham Fabric line “Sally Rose” ca. 1845-1865.<br /><br />To make the bag base for making the box shape and to have enough denim, I had to sew a couple of pieces together, then set this in a bit as the “jean leg” panel flared out a bit as it went down to the base of the bag.<br /><br />I wanted to be able to close my bag with a zip, and spent hours trying to figure it out thinking of the toiletry pouch and gathered clutch I’d previously made. But I had help from a fellow scquilter (Southern Cross Quilter's yahoo group) who pointed me in the direction of <a href="http://u-handbag.typepad.com/uhandblog/2008/08/easy-tutorial---how-to-insert-a-concealed-top-edge-bag-zipper.html">“how to insert a concealed top edge bag zipper”</a>.<br /></div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkUyVATtzvUAoPvGz1VY_HVMJHgxOIp2om3soHyJU_u_tAQ2ho_ThtZc0XuNwkr-usfGDNGUypTLDxXya22hFkA8fRp82fxhdE8ah3t94PoDy-9ly02f-RGtZadhe0eg52VIPTUwO0CN8h/s1600/Recycled+Jeans+2.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504532042620482338" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkUyVATtzvUAoPvGz1VY_HVMJHgxOIp2om3soHyJU_u_tAQ2ho_ThtZc0XuNwkr-usfGDNGUypTLDxXya22hFkA8fRp82fxhdE8ah3t94PoDy-9ly02f-RGtZadhe0eg52VIPTUwO0CN8h/s320/Recycled+Jeans+2.jpg" /></a><br /><div><br />So I was able to accomplish this. Although in the tutorial she took the zip apart, I didn’t do that, just carefully made and sewed the fabric casing each side of the zip and achieved the same result.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpG5iaL2KuF0P7HWUhwzIy56pZrgxVWmd79QuQBwjm9LsurOtcBSo0JinpjrujavtCgub_9IjeAq5EhF_9fi4Yn_7rKlC3iB1jLkuwlt_q0nwGo39juMmPlfuDTOig5YqhLjdw61qDnvvJ/s1600/Recycled+Jeans+4.jpg"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: right; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504531617561714034" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhpG5iaL2KuF0P7HWUhwzIy56pZrgxVWmd79QuQBwjm9LsurOtcBSo0JinpjrujavtCgub_9IjeAq5EhF_9fi4Yn_7rKlC3iB1jLkuwlt_q0nwGo39juMmPlfuDTOig5YqhLjdw61qDnvvJ/s320/Recycled+Jeans+4.jpg" /></a> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504532960383873026" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsTkVe_PgfgaFvgKS1A4H5SmRRM03gHOLFnuen_Dbfq8su-mWQBHnKg6hmmJXyBDN7ZEPZrIGnIwpjLhkIQdCsYTcGzeBEbxRxSqtO-JXgIcL2CTaCLD2X7KfIRbt9o1-BbL_OLaDnLh0a/s320/Recycled+Jeans+3.jpg" /><br />I made denim straps using what long length I could cut from the left over jeans, which were 20 inches x 3 ¼ inches. I folded the denim in half and pressed in a ¼ seam down each length and top stitched these seams together, then a line of top stitching on the fold, to have a nice finish.<br /><br />I cut the selvedge off with the fabric name on it and made a loop that I caught up in the lining seams to attach keys too. </div><div><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5504531059130896978" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgzZQ8JJVH0XXA6i559VW3AJpiZVkz1yxYZIZomw5GggYCeVMBQRNBtzVctxp7uqNOKpgf9D1V38s0FR4IIIC9ljAD1trrEHerSXGBIUAHJf_UBl4K_9bMEnWvyBfYhERftaIyN6Mg6TOLV/s320/Recycled+Jeans+5.jpg" /><br />I have really enjoyed these projects, loving the look and feel of the denim.</div></div></div>Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00674744363465133401noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4709706067106535814.post-49408549717679995012010-08-12T09:34:00.004+08:002010-08-12T09:43:55.395+08:00Make A Bag Sew Along - finishedItem 3 on my 52MMMC list – is now completely complete!!
